Enerside will provide energy in Brazil for the first time after closing a contract of 7.7 GWh per year

THE RENEWABLE ENERGY COMES FROM ONE OF ITS SOLAR PARKS UNDER DISTRIBUTED GENERATION AND THE AGREEMENT IS FOR 15 YEARS

  • With the annual energy production that will be generated in the solar plant already operational at full capacity, the emission of 659 tons of carbon dioxide per year will be avoided.
  • All the energy generated will have the Renewable Energy Certification (I-REC), a system that allows tracing the path of energy from generation to the final consumer.
  • The agreement provides for the annual supply of energy produced in one of Enerside’s solar parks located in the Northeast region of Brasil, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.
  • Enerside will be responsible for the development and construction of the park that will begin construction at the end of the year and is expected to start operating in May 2023.
  • Raízen, a joint venture between Royal Dutch Shell and the Cosan Group, is an integrated energy company, which produces and markets ethanol, sugar, fuels and bioenergy, and is among the five companies with the highest turnover in Brazil.

Barcelona, November 9th, 2022.  Enerside Energy, a Spanish company vertically integrated in the solar photovoltaic industry, has signed a contract for the supply of 7.7 GWh/year of energy for 15 years with the Brazilian company Raízen, one of the five largest companies in Brazil by turnover.

According to the signed contract, Enerside will provide Raízen with 100% of the energy produced in its 3.33 MW peak power park in Rota do Sol, which will be built in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, in Brazil.

This agreement is part of Enerside’s strategy as an independent power producer (IPP), an activity included in its business model and current strategic plan, and which has the objective of operating up to 1GW of installed capacity by 2025.

For the Country Manager of Enerside in Brazil,  Joel Barros,  “this operation greatly satisfies us for the milestone it marks in our trajectory within Brazil, since it involves the development and start-up of our first project in this country as independent energy producers, and we do it hand in hand with one of the most important companies in the country, with which we share many values as well as a firm commitment to the sustainable growth of Brazil.”

With the annual energy production that Enerside will generate in the solar plant already operational at full capacity, the emission of 659 tons of carbon dioxide per year will be avoided. All the energy generated will have the Renewable Energy Certification (I-REC), a system that allows tracing the path of energy from generation to the final consumer.

Commitment to Brazil’s distributed generation market

The Rota do Sol solar park with which Enerside will generate energy for Raízen is a Distributed Minigeneration project, a growing market in Brazil, which already reaches 14 GW and is currently regulated.

Enerside plans to start the construction of the park at the end of 2022 and the entry into operation in May 2023, since this type of distributed generation projects have a much shorter and simpler development period than those of centralized generation.

In addition to the Rota do Sol project, Enerside will also develop and put into operation next year in Brazil another Distributed Minigeneration project, the 3.1 MW peak Itabira solar park in the state of Minas Gerais.

Enerside’s clear commitment to the distributed generation market in Brazil is completed with a pipeline of 6 other new projects that it plans to develop and build for 2023 and 2024, all located in the northeast of Brazil, specifically in Bahia, Pernambuco and Ceará and totaling approximately 40 MW of power.

About Raízen

Raízen was founded in 2011 from the Joint Venture between Royal Dutch Shell (44%) and Cosan (44%). Energy company with presence in the sectors of sugar and ethanol production, fuel distribution and power generation. Its name is formed by the union of the words “root” and “energy”.

The main manufacturer of sugarcane ethanol in Brazil and the largest single exporter of  cane sugar in the international market, its activities cover all the different stages of production, such as: sugarcane cultivation;  sugar and ethanol manufacturing; energy cogeneration; logistics; transport and distribution of fuel; exportation  and fuel retail through gas stations and convenience stores operating under the Shell brand  in Brazil and Argentina. Since 2021 it is listed on the Brazilian Stock Exchange.

About Enerside

Enerside is a company in the photovoltaic solar energy sector, vertically integrated, and stands out for its marked industrial profile and geographical diversification in the markets with the greatest potential for solar energy (Spain, Italy, Brazil and Chile).

Enerside is currently immersed in promoting the development of 5.5 GW in differentiated, highly qualified projects with an advanced degree of maturity that give it an excellent position to capture the growth of demand and a great capacity to generate value, through the sale of projects in RTB (Ready To Build) phase and with the direct exploitation of part of the pipeline as an independent energy producer (IPP).
