TOMÀS CASANOVAS LEAVES THE POSITION AFTER ACCOMPANYING THE COMPANY IN A GREAT STAGE OF GROWTH
- The new chairman, non-executive, assumes the position at a key moment for the company, which will soon celebrate its first year as a listed company in BME Growth.
- The CEO and founder of Enerside, Joatham Grange, thanked Tomàs Casanovas for his work as president and his commitment to the transformation and growth of the company, of which he will continue to be a member of the Board of Directors.
Barcelona, January 26th, 2023. The Board of Directors of Enerside Energy has appointed Anna Ma Birulés as non-executive chairman, replacing Tomàs Casanovas, who leaves the position after an outstanding stage of transformation and growth for the company to become an integrated platform in the solar photovoltaic industry with presence in such relevant markets of the sector as Brazil, Chile, Spain and Italy. Pedro Nueno continues to serve as vice-president.
With an extensive professional and academic career very focused on industry and energy, technological innovation and venture capital, Anna Ma Birulés, independent director of Enerside since the end of 2020, assumes the non-executive presidency, continuing the path of growth driven by Tomàs Casanovas and its CEO Joatham-John Grange.
Long track record in key industrial sectors
Anna Ma Birulés has had public responsibilities in the Government of Spain and in Industry and Energy in the Generalitat of Catalunya. She was Minister of Science and Technology -industry, unregulated energy, telecommunications, audiovisual and science- between 2000 and 2002.
Her private experience as a counselor is wide and diverse in various sectors and geographies. She has led corporate operations, taken companies to the stock market and broken monopolies, such as telephony. She also has solid experience in the financial sector and has promoted the sustainability of large infrastructures with renewable energies and public-private collaboration.
PhD Laude in Economics from the University of Barcelona and PhD(c) in Economics, from the University of California, Berkeley, she is and has been a patron of several foundations and member of social councils and business associations and is linked to the leading business schools in our country such as IESE and ESADE.
Tomàs Casanovas continues betting on Enerside
The until now president, Tomàs Casanovas, 71, and after almost 8 years serving as president, leaves the position on his own initiative, although he continues as a member of the Board of Directors and as one of the main shareholders of the company.
During Tomàs Casanovas’ time as president, Enerside Energy has undergone outstanding changes as a company, such as its conversion into a fully integrated platform, the international leap with the entry and opening of offices in Chile and Brazil and the development of utility-scale projects and the IPO that took place in March 2022. In these eight years, the value of Enerside has multiplied by 100. From the 2 million valuations in 2015, it has gone to 200 million capitalization in the BME to date.
With more than 40 years of experience as a professional in the banking sector, Tomàs Casanovas is an expert in Project Finance and former director of Caixabank, where he was a member of the bank’s Credit Committee and director of the Business Analysis Area, among other positions. He holds an Economist and MBA from Strathclyde, Glasgow and a Postgraduate Degree in Advanced Risk Analysis from Darden University, Virginia, USA.
